Single-Storey Extension

Maximising use of the available space, a utility was created to the side of the property, while retaining ample access to the rear of the house. We were able to source the original brick, roof tiles and doors, creating a seamless look. The exterior was completed with paving, fencing and sensor lighting. Utility units and granite worktops were installed, matching the existing kitchen. A hanging laundry rack was fitted to make use of the high ceiling space and we built a bespoke shoe cupboard and bench unit providing more storage space.

To the rear of the property we built a 3.5m x 4m flat roof extension, providing a large open-plan living space off the kitchen. The existing bi-fold doors were re-used to minimise cost and we included a living roof to help encourage wildlife to the garden whilst maintaining a green outlook from the upstairs bedroom. Lighting was installed in the soffit above the bi-fold doors to provide an ambient outdoor entertaining space.

The client lived in the space throughout the build and much of the extension was built prior to knocking through to the house in order to minimise disruption. We added temporary plumbing solutions to allow our client to continue completing day-to-day tasks. Finally we carried out landscaping to the rear garden, including drainage soakaways to rectify a waterlogged garden.
